Hello there! We got matched! Or you chose me for a pinch hit! And that means you're willing to write something in a tiny fandom of my heart, and I am delighted. Thank you so much! \o/

If you already have an idea you want to write, please do go ahead and have fun with it. I want you to have a good time and enjoy your own story. But if more thoughts about my likes would be helpful, here are some!

If you're the sort of writer who'd like to hear a few more thoughts on my chosen characters, here are some details about my fandoms this year (in alphabetical order): Peacemakers, Rejseholdet|Unit One, Shetland, Sinbad (TV), The Sting (1973).

dorinda: Jared Stone and Larimer Finch, from "Peacemakers". (stonefinch)
Here's the last of that batch of finished little stories I had in my pocket:

To Track the Beast (3333 words) by Dorinda
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Peacemakers (2003)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Larimer Finch/Jared Stone
Characters: Larimer Finch, Jared Stone, Katie Owen
Additional Tags: Western, Angst, Law Enforcement, Post-Canon, First Time
Summary:

Finch hesitated by the back door into the parlor, where the door curtains had been drawn against the night. He'd become accustomed to just walking in of an evening, and it felt strange to stop himself. But he couldn't quite imagine Stone being as happy to see him as he had been lately, looking up over his glasses with that smile that some might almost call shy.

Man I love Peacemakers. So promising, so short-lived, alas. I feel like it was tragically ahead of its time, before the days when lots of cable channels are producing original drama series and thriving. I think it would fit in perfectly right now, a western about the transitional period into modern criminal science. It had a lot of interesting things to say, and great characters to say it with. If you're ever curious to see it, last I heard it was actually on Hulu, although I can't check at the moment.

This story was inspired by my H/C Bingo card, although it itself did not really turn out to be H/C. I should dig that card out and give it another look; it had all kinds of inspirational topics on it.

At last, I got around to doing my Yuletide nominations! I nominated:

I Spy (1965)

The Sting (1973)

Peacemakers (2003)

I plan to offer to write all of these. It was difficult to settle; I kept swapping The Invisible Man (TV 2000) in and out, but in the end I regretfully left it out. I figure, I already have a partly-written I-Man story lurking on the hard drive, so even if no one else nominates it for Yuletide, I'll have that to work on, to keep me warm (after Yuletide season, natch).

Whew! Exhausting.

Yuletide reveal is upon us! I wrote one story:

Unglued (12449 words) by Dorinda
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: I Spy (1965)
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Kelly Robinson/Alexander Scott
Characters: Kelly Robinson, Alexander Scott
Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Rescue, Bathing/Washing, Frottage, Hand Jobs, drugged, Cuddling & Snuggling, First Time, Angst, Psychological Trauma, Spies & Secret Agents
Summary: Scotty can handle a beating or a burn or a near-drowning, but there is one thing he cannot handle. Not alone.

This is a hurt/comfort angst-to-happy-ending tale that I've been hoping to write forever. It's set between the end and the tag of the episode "The Seventh Captain", an ep that really puts Scotty through the wringer--especially since he gets drugged, and that is not something I think he in particular can handle with any impunity. So it's like, the episode leaves a missing scene where the clam has been tossed into the steamer basket...how could I not tackle that?

I received two stories this year! The main story:

Running out of sins (3722 words) by Moonshine_Givens
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Sinbad (TV)
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: Gunnar/Sinbad
Characters: Gunnar (Sinbad), Sinbad (Sinbad), Nala (Sinbad), Rina (Sinbad), Anwar (Sinbad)
Additional Tags: quick mention of minor's prostitution, AU, alternative universe, Pre-Slash, Outlaws, Angst
Summary: The Ship Providence is a crap bar, filled with prostitutes, thieves, drug dealers, outlaws. A place to come to die, an elephants’ graveyard. Yet, Gunnar always comes back, looking for that group of people that doesn't really belong together, not yet.

I love the one-season 2012 British show Sinbad SO MUCH, and eventually plan to post about it properly. In the meantime, know that I love the whole roguish bunch of them, and especially Gunnar and his protective-pining stance toward Sinbad himself. Sigh! This story slips them sideways into an AU, but still focuses on what draws these misfits and lost souls together and binds them into a team. ♥

I also got a treat story!:

Waking Dreams (2283 words) by Settiai
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Peacemakers (2003)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Larimer Finch & Jared Stone
Characters: Chipper Dunn, Jared Stone, Katie Owen, Larimer Finch
Additional Tags: Case Fic, Friendship, Gen or Pre-Slash, Hurt/Comfort, One Shot
Summary: The truth, the lies, the in-between / the hate, the love, the waking dream.

Peacemaaaaaakers! A lovely hurt/comfort rescue, with the characters all working together and caring about each other and making me happy. :) Jared Stone is another of my favorite clams, and here we have a subtle pressure on Finch's shoulder that is, like, an essay of feeling. \o/

Happy New Year, everybody!

Hello! Welcome! And thanks for being my writer!

What I want most is for you to have a good time writing the story, so if you have an idea of your own, please do go for it. Optional Details Are Optional, and letter details are the most optionalest of them all.

But if it would be useful, here are some of my general preferences:

I prefer slash if I can get it, but for me slash doesn't automatically equal porn. For me it's about the depth of the bond between the characters, the discovery of a startling and unexpected intimacy. I like a subtle, nuanced, gradual approach, the characters getting closer maybe even despite themselves, and figuring things out as they go.

Some of the tropes and approaches I enjoy: happy or at least hopeful endings, words that camouflage deeper/unspoken meanings, showing over telling, extreme competence (but with honest weakness), characters with a protective shell that the other character finds their way into even just a bit, hurt/comfort, chosen families, partners against the world.

And here are further thoughts on the fandoms I requested, in alphabetical order...

1. I Spy )

2. Peacemakers )

3. Sinbad (TV) )

4. The Sting (1973) )

Anyone paying attention to my AO3 tag will notice I've just been shooing a few old Yuletide stories up onto the archive...belatedly, for meme-convenience. *g*

Yuletide stories: Ocean's 11, Crime and Punishment, Sherlock Holmes, Casablanca, Asimov's robot mysteries, The Sting, The Matador, Persuaders, Spy Game, Rio Bravo, Rubicon, Peacemakers, I Spy. )

I know this will amuse shock all of you, but this year for Yuletide I got to write I Spy!:

Walking and Falling (6557 words) by faviconDorinda
Fandom: I Spy (1965)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Alexander Scott, Kelly Robinson
Summary:

Left knee going. Ribs not so good either. Old and tired, and backing a partner who trusted him. Now what?

I enjoyed writing this very much (also shocking, I'm sure). And it was another stab at the late-career problem for Kelly, whose cover identity is so physically demanding on top of the physically punishing job.

As Kainosite observed in her comment on the story, it's a cover with a short shelf life. The show never touched on what the Department might have planned for Kelly afterward if anything; given how they tended to treat him, I doubt they had anything good in mind, and they'd certainly be content with him living in denial as he drove himself into the ground. Scotty, however, would not.

(Also, in a followup to this post, the author of the wonderful Peacemakers story I got this year was [personal profile] arduinna! AND THUS THE SLOW-MO PEACEMAKERS ROUND ROBIN CONTINUES. :D )
