I-Man season 1 DVDs, going cheap!
Thanks to a post over on the LJ Invisible-Man comm
hot_donuts, I've been informed that The Invisible Man season 1 set is selling at Amazon US for (as of today) USD$7.50, and Amazon Canada for CDN$11.99. All the eps from season 1, the first ep from season 2, plus some commentary and an interview. What a deal!
I highly recommend this series. It has drama, humor, teamwork, action-adventure, science fiction, van chases, bowling shirts, gunplay, Viewmasters, a resourceful Swiss bad guy, and a(n eventual) buddy-pair who just LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH YOU GUYS IDEK.
I-Man (Fanlore page with description and many helpful links) has inspired such vids as:
* Kryptonite: go to this page and search for Kryptonite; while you're there, check out Speed Racer, too. They're presently at the bottom of the page.)
* All the Way: a festivid from this year. Festivid post here, with a link to greensilver's own post.
* Weeping Willow: LJ post here.
* Voodoo: downloadable .zip here--I can't presently find a streaming version.
...and more! Just from that sample, and not even getting into the other fanworks like fiction, I think you can see some of the breadth of interpretation I-Man allows. You got your lighthearted actiony BobbyHobbes in Speed Racer. You got your Devoted Partners in Kryptonite. You got your Bobby And Darien Get Married in All the Way. You got your Intennnnse Angst in Weeping Willow. You got your Erotic Wrath between Darien and Arnaud in Voodoo. Et cetera!
In short: maybe you want an inexpensive slashy stocking stuffer. And if so, here's one!

Also, that is a wonderful fandom overview. ♥ (Erotic Wrath, omg, SO TRUE)
Y'know, I can't remember a show that had such a gleefully villainous villain as Arnaud; the closest I can come up with is Murdoc from MacGyver, but he always seemed so tormented by his paaaaaaaaiiin that drove him into sadistic fury. Arnaud, on the other hand, is just happily psychopathic.

And thanks! It's no Ship Manifesto or anything--but I had to say a little something, even if I wasn't home where my screencaps and stuff are. It's just sad that Sisabet's old picspam posts mostly have broken links where the pictures used to be...they were a wonderful go-to resource for saying, HERE IS SOME I-MAN JUST LOOK AT THEM ZOMG.
(Erotic Wrath, omg, SO TRUE)
When crazy-bananas Darien has Arnaud pinned up against the wall, in the shot used starting at I think 2:45 in Voodoo? And Arnaud is slumped back, his mouth open, his head sinuous on his neck, his eyes heavy-lidded? And then he lightning-quick punches Darien in the face? BOYS. GET A ROOM. PREFERABLY ONE WITH BAND-AIDS IN IT.

This is an excellent point! I do think Murdoc did have his psychopathy humanized, in a way--or at least, it seemed a mysterious and kind of painful place to be. Whereas Arnaud has goals! And checklists! He wants things and will walk over anyone to get them. And he doesn't seem to have the same need for byzantine melodrama as Murdoc. "Tormented" is a good word for Murdoc--and Arnaud seems anything but tormented. "Irritated," maybe. *g*
