Yuletide reveal: Rejseholdet, "After one blind season"

This year, I wrote for the Danish cop show "Rejseholdet". The two-part finale is emotional and dramatic, practically fic on the screen--Fischer is seemingly fired and in prison! But really he's undercover, known only to La Cour and the chief of police! Fischer suffers! La Cour has to watch him suffer and thereby suffers himself! Etc. :D

But at the end, Fischer is unceremoniously sent out of the country, to a secondment at Europol in The Netherlands. And I've always thought, man, there is WAY too much unresolved trauma left hanging there, not to mention the UST!

Lucky for me, my recipient chantefable is totally simpatico...she had actually written Rejseholdet for me in 2017, for Night on Fic Mountain. \o/ So I could indulge myself, and do a post-series fixit. Which chantefable has described as "It is about sad grown-up Danish cops overcoming sadness and miscommunication and pining related to a previous case and its aftermath", to which I would say, yes!

Someday! You never know!

And really, Rejseholdet is extremely small and niche. I find a bit surprising, actually, given that Mads Mikkelsen is in it, and given Hannibal fandom's tendencies with adjacent canons. But they never did take to it, seems to me--and predictably, the times they do, it's to slash Mikkelsen's character with Will Graham or a Hugh Dancy character from elsewhere.

Ah, well, better luck next time.

Well, I really like it, but it depends on your druthers. It's a fairly realistic and a bit gloomy (Scandinavians, gloomy?? you don't say!) cop procedural, without much Extreme Emotion--until that finale, when things are dialed up a little closer to a more Hollywoodish level. Ending the series on that two-parter was partly a bit mean (omg now what happens??), but also kind of fannishly catalyzing (omg now THIS has to happen!).
