The weary traveler returns

escapade_con at last!
But Dorinda, you might say, wasn't Escapade over on Sunday, with a lot of people including you scheduled to leave Monday morning?
Why yes. Yes it was.
I'm one of the people whose east coast destinations were rendered useless by winter storm wossname. After being on hold for an hour with the airline on Sunday, I was finally told that my connecting flight hadn't been cancelled, and the airport was scheduled to reopen a couple hours before I was supposed to land, so my delay surely wouldn't be so bad.
Hee hee hee.
It was the next morning, while I was just out of the shower and barely be-underpantsed, that I got a robocall 1) informing me that my connection was cancelled, and 2) rebooking me on a redeye flight leaving at 11pm Tuesday night, which, given the weird routing and the layover, wouldn't get me home until midday Wednesday.
I waited on hold to talk to someone about it, but in the end she couldn't do anything unless I wanted to get home even later. Soooo, Tuesday night it was.
Luckily, the concom was still there and had lots of good ideas for emergency fan accommodation, for which I thank them! And doubly luckily, I remembered to call
melina, who hooked me up with
hafital, so between them they completely saved my bacon. ♥ ♥ ♥ I had a restful and non-traumatic time, doing my laundry, watching all of
hafital's Netflix, and writing some story notes for
mollyamory, while I waited for the redeye to roll around. And getting to hang around and chat with
hafital was a real treat.
So eventually the redeye did get me (circuitously) home, super-exhausting but no more difficult than it had to be. I fell into bed around noon and woke up about 10pm, had a snack and a ton of water, and am shortly going back to bed with an eye toward work tomorrow. And my post-con sore throat, while still sore, doesn't seem to have turned into anything worse so far. Knock on wood.
Escapade was really fun, I had a great time, despite missing those who couldn't make it. The panels on Clams and Hurt/Comfort, in particular, were tip-top fantastic and energetic and inspiring! Thanks to
megankent, who did a great moderation job for both panels, and to the panel attendees, who had great discussions!
