h/c bingo, here I come
Jun. 11th, 2012 04:16 pmI have been gently and encouragingly peer-pressured into playing in this round of
hc_bingo. My goal is to get some practice writing shorter pieces more comfortably--although, damn this awesome card, there's a row or two that suggests itself as one of the "5 prompts turn into one story" extras, which urges me to go long, go long...
I'm presently mulling over the squares, mixing and matching them with fandoms I'd like to write.
arduinna and I were talking about how certain characters are just so flexible, h/c-wise--Kelly Robinson from I Spy, for instance. I mean, plenty of these things happen to him in canon. So if you're stumped for someone to get amnesia while hiding an injury in a hostile climate? GIVE HIM A CALL.
| bullet wounds | loss of job / income | blood loss | fire | medication |
| rejection | comfort food or item | sexual extortion | amnesia | self-harm |
| depression | brainwashing | WILD CARD | drowning | nightmares |
| panic attacks | archaic medical treatment | hiding an injury / illness | burns | extortion |
| homesickness | stranded / survival scenario | forced to participate in illegal / hurtful activity | planet destruction | hostile climate |
I'm presently mulling over the squares, mixing and matching them with fandoms I'd like to write.

Date: 2012-06-12 01:23 am (UTC)I was wondering what I could try to write for planet destruction, if I chose that square and didn't write in a science-fictional fandom... and then I thought, for fandoms like I Spy that are about espionage during the Cold War, maybe an imminent threat of global thermonuclear war? Granted, the planet would not actually be destroyed (and I'm not much for writing unhappy endings, anyway), but it feels like it would be pretty H on the H/C scale if there were nukes/the threat of nukes involved.

That looks like a great card. Most of it looks right up my hurty/comforty alley. :-)

Date: 2012-06-12 01:25 am (UTC)How often do I celebrate peer pressure! But this seems like a good byproduct. Rather than me, like, taking up smoking, or jumping off a bridge.
Most of it looks right up my hurty/comforty alley. :-)
Mine too, as I suspect you are aware. Although there's no "cuddling for warmth," which is a big fave of mine as well...but I can always write it for the Wild Card square, if I have a bingo that uses the center.

Date: 2012-06-12 11:00 pm (UTC)I think you know my stance on cuddling for warmth. (Hint: VERY PRO!) I also think Terri is on the exact right path with this: go, Terri! Way to enable! :-)

Date: 2012-06-11 09:55 pm (UTC)I see no downside to this. Ditto I Spy's versatility.
Let me know if I can aid or abet in any way.
