Oh, and P.S. (PS:POI :) )
Sep. 6th, 2015 06:10 pmOh! And! One other thing in my id I intended to unpack in that last post is that Person of Interest is now on Netflix streaming: seasons 1-3. Hooray! An easy way for people to dip in, or catch up, or peek if they're curious.
I'm glad to hear it, even though I already have all the episodes in my hot little hands. I figure, in these days of streaming, this is a good way to get it in front of more eyeballs, especially the eyeballs of people who've given up on standard broadcast/cable TV.
I am currently running the pilot via Netflix, despite my DVD set sitting like two feet away from the TV. Let them know I'm happy to see it. :)

Date: 2015-09-06 11:30 pm (UTC)POI! I am so far behind in POI! I have been purchasing seasons of some shows as they air, since my antenna is so dodgy. But the problem is, when I purchase them, I put them on the back burner and watch the ones that will soon leave network/Hulu. Now, the ones I don't purchase are the ones I don't like as well, just am interested enough to watch each week. But they are the ones I actually keep up with, while the shows I love, that I purchase, sit waiting for me to watch, since they're "safe"...Gah! Need more time in the day! Many days!

Date: 2015-09-07 03:40 am (UTC)I know how it is, when purchasing something paradoxically puts it on the back burner. Because now there's no hurry! Maybe it's something more easily watched with someone else, like when I eventually do get a chance to come and visit you. Watching things with other people sometimes make it easier for me to prioritize them. Anyway, keep it in mind as an option! But it's true that it isn't going anywhere, so no pressure.
Speaking of streaming
Date: 2015-09-07 12:14 am (UTC)I did try out my free month of Netflix streaming and used it watch Sens8 and Grace and Frankie, and you were completely accurate about Grace and Frankie! I really enjoyed it! I was especially taken by the nuances of Frankie's reactions, and also how damn good an actress Jane Fonda is. I had an intellectual appreciation of Jane Fonda but I haven't seen most of her work so I didn't have a firsthand appreciation of it until watching her in this. Anyway, thank you for putting that show on my radar! I don't know how/if/when I'll see season 2 but I intend to try.
Just today I figured out that I *can* watch stuff I purchased/rented via Amazon Prime through my TiVo. For some reason, for years, I've believed it wasn't functional but today I did some poking and voilĂ . And LOL, first thing to come up in "suggestions for you" was Unit One! :D And yes, with the DVDs sitting right next to the TV I was tempted for a moment, but I'm a cheapskate & resisted. Instead I watched The Imitation Game, which I hadn't seen yet (I thought it was really good) and a Nathaniel Parker Canadian TV movie which was also really good.
So, I think streaming mostly sucks but it's also pretty useful! *sigh*

Date: 2015-09-11 12:48 am (UTC)And yes re: WGN. I think syndication brings in a lot of viewers who've been hearing things about the show but didn't want to start with a current season. I caught up on a few fannish shows when they became syndicated. For some, streaming is easier and for others, syndication is, so it's win/win.

Date: 2015-09-07 03:49 am (UTC)I guess that because an increasing amount of people do have it these days, it feels like a great way to catch people who haven't been able to see the show yet. Like, this way they don't depend on having a friend who can provide them with sample episodes, or needing to torrent or whatever, if they missed the CBS first run. They don't have to make any effort, just hit one button to fulfill their curiosity. Given the general short-attention-span prevalent these days, that's a godsend for a show. (And maybe the janes-come-lately who leapt aboard only for Root & Shaw will take a minute to watch the rest? *cough*)
Aw, I'm glad to hear you liked Grace & Frankie! I was so pleasantly surprised by it. We will get your eyeballs onto season 2 somehow, some way. Without making you fly out here to visit me. Even though I have my guest room back! (I'll have to email you about that...)

Heyyyy! Awesome!!

Hee! Your Tivo (and Amazon) loves you and wants you to be happy. ♥ I was just talking to

Date: 2015-09-11 10:18 pm (UTC)(I know there's no reason I could only do that for Yuletide, of course. Don't tell the government, but HYPOTHETICALLY, the other day during a very long meeting which was extremely irrelevant to my work and position, I MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT have been jotting down notes for a F/LC scene [unsure if this would be its own thing or part of a larger thing]. ALLEGEDLY.)
