Yuletide nominations are almost over!

I definitely let time get away from me--Yuletide nominations end on Friday! (It actually technically ends at 5am Saturday morning, US Eastern Time, but of course I like to sleep Friday nights, so it'll have to be by bedtime on Friday night.)

Who else has nominated so far?

Only three fandoms, as usual. Hmm.

Okay, looking at the nom self-report spreadsheet, someone says they've nominated Almost Human, including John and Dorian. So that takes a load off my mind! And, happy surprise, someone who isn't me nominated Sinbad (TV), including Sinbad and Gunnar (and others). Whew.

Someone reports having nominated Space: Above and Beyond, which is a delight to hear--but, the characters they nominated were West, Vansen, Hawkes, and Damphousse. Without McQueen in some fashion, it's hard for me to get interested. {{{McQueen}}}

Someone reports having nominated the 1958 movie The Defiant Ones! So good, so upsetting, so slashy. I had a vague story idea for that once upon a time. Not sure I'd be able just to throw myself open to write someone else's request, especially given the historical context and serious racial issues one would perforce have to grapple with, but I'll keep it in mind.

I'm thinking I'll nominate Rejseholdet, since that remains so very rare still (even though I have had some wonderful stories written for me, which I wholeheartedly recommend! I am just also v. greedy. :D ).

Dare I gamble that someone else will nominate Master & Commander? (Or the O'Brian books, though I don't feel as confident when offering to write bookfic, for fear of people requesting het and/or Diana.) Maybe I should, just in case.

For a third, many choices jostle in my head. The Sting, of course, which is a best beloved (and also, being a movie, provides a nice short canon for people in a hurry, whether pinch-hitting or trying something new or whatever. :D). Shetland, though I'm not sure who else wants the kind of stories I'd want to offer/request (Jimmy/Duncan, anyone?)

I want to nominate stuff so I might have fandoms to write treats in, since I (usually) have more fun writing treats than doing assignments, but it seems like a lot of effort this year.

Ahhh, treats are the best-- a win-win, with the author having free choice and the recipient getting a nice surprise. (She said, as someone who has gotten treats before.)

Is the effort a general life effort, from striving within the current dumpster fire? Or does nothing really come to mind you feel like writing?

If you ever suddenly felt like nominating Ocean's 11 to write me a leetle Danny/Rusty summat, I would never ever evveerrrr argue with you.

I would have written you O11 last year but you didn't request it! *g* I'm not feeling it this year. I think I'm so tired and busy this year that trying to figure out whether fandoms I want to nominate qualify is just not attractive to me. Band of Brothers was my go-to Yuletide fandom for years, but last year it required an evidence post (which someone else wrote) to get it in, and this year there's no evidence post, and I don't care enough to write one. etcetera. I think other little fandoms I love are close to being out, too. So it goes.

Yeah, when it starts to feel like An Exhausting Task, that's definitely no fun. I'm sorry to hear it. But maybe another time!

I totally missed the noms window but I'm confident there'll be a few of my fandoms in there *g* Must make sure and sign up though!

I'm excited for the tagset to open, so I can paw through it. I'm not actually sure when that's expected to happen... I guess they're approving nominations now, and doing all the untangling work behind the scenes. They should have plenty of time for that, since signups aren't until October 1. *fidget, fidget*

I made sure Rejseholdet got nominated--I mean I know you already wrote me a spectacular story that I absolutely adore, buuuuut just in case you ever felt like writing me a little more! She said, greedily. :D

*g* Greed is good when it comes to fandom! Yes I want to set aside some time to get acquainted with the tags and the list of requests and figure out what to offer and ask for. And maybe both of those will include Rejseholdet! Such a good show (thank you again for the intro! I owe you a lot for that!)
