Panels, panels, who's got the panels

You know, a weekend seems like a good long time, before it actually happens. Or at least, that's what I say on the Sunday night of a weekend where I had all kinds of big plans to clean my apartment and pick up after myself and whatnot. On the bright side, I did tidy some terrible things out of the refrigerator, one of which was actually leftover FROM THANKSGIVING oh god. /o\

I'm currently trying to come up with another panel idea for Escapade. I wrote up a couple, two different fandom compilations of sorts (con artist fandoms, age of sail fandoms). But I'd also still love to talk about The Exorcist, if it were at all possible.

Problem is, my only idea for a panel description is, like, HEY WHO WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THE EXORCIST. I KNOW IT GOT CANCELLED BUT THAT JUST MEANS NOW NO ONE CAN RUIN IT. And that doesn't necessarily seem focused enough.

Although I might just use that as my writeup anyway. :D Focus, schmocus.

I surfed in on a wave of your encouragement and whipped up a panel summary that is basically the above, plus a lil more chatter and enthusiasm and reminder about how amazing yet fucked up Marcus and Tomas are. :D

I admit, I stole that from sakana17, who wrote to me as she headed through season 2, to say basically 'Marcus and Tomas are so awesome and so fucked-up, that's what I'd say for a panel idea'.

I wish you could be there; I always love hangin out with you. Woe. But I understand. Another time!

I don't think I can come up with anything for Black Sails, so I'm just planning to have the 'loafin around the hotel room' style talk about that one. Which is my favorite anyway. We'll see if any of my 3 submissions catch enough interest...but if not, hotel room it is!

I'm from London where wideboys (illegal street traders) when asked where something came from will make that gesture along their nose while saying "ask no questions, tell no lies." :D

I bet that's where it came from, whenever it was imported into the US underground! The icon version in particular is the con-artist recognition signal in "The Sting", but I suspect that might have come from the 1940s non-fiction book about con artists that inspired the movie.

And yes re: the focus, absolutely. I have lots of ideas for questions to ask and bullet points to propose, and can follow any spark-back of energy from the group.

I hope you get the panel on there; if nothing else, do what I did last year and have it as alt programing.
