Escapade!

I had a wonderful time at Escapade. Ahhhhhh it was so fun and casual and relaxing, but went by too fast.

I didn't take notes for a con report per se, but I can say that the panels I modded or co-modded--Age of Sail Fandoms, Con Artist Fandoms, and The Exorcist (tv)--were all sheer delights, every one. The people who attended were interested and had lots of great things to say, and the discussions left me happy and motivated and even more in love with the relevant fandoms than before.

Otherwise I took it easy, made sure to spend quality time just loafing around. And I got to rewatch the first half of season 2 of The Exorcist with the_shoshanna, klia, sakana17, and thevetia, which was sooooo pleasurable. We got through not just the introduction of Peter, but the important scenes with Peter & Marcus out on the boat, and there was a lot to talk about.

I spaced out and accidentally missed the Sherlock Holmes panel--anyone out there who can give me the gist?

I of course would be thrilled to see you there! But I know how cram-jammed your life is, so it makes sense that Escapade is not top of the list.

I got as far as checking if I could fly out on points this year (I could have!) but then life intervened. I'm putting it on higher priority for next year. Fingers crossed!

I’m watching the Exorcist TV series for the first time now. It’s so good and so scary.

I just finished episode 4. Looking forward to episode 5. I notice the color blue is dominant in almost every scene. (The scene where Father Marcus successfully exorcised the man surrounded by the nuns was done with a fuchsia background.) I’d like to know the significance of blue in The Exorcist.

I hadn't noticed that--interesting. I wish there had been a podcast about Exorcist; that's a good spot to get this sort of info from the horse's mouth. Like, there's an official podcast about The Good Place with regular interviews with behind-the-scenes people where they talk about decisions like that, and there used to be a fan-run podcast about Black Sails with occasional interviews with Black Sails cast or crew. Ah, well.

You didn't notice the dominance of the color blue??!! I'm only up to episode 5 of season 1, but if you get a chance, go back and look at one of the first 5 episodes. You'll notice the blue tones of each scene.

Nope. It's not often the sort of thing I notice when left to my own devices...I don't have much of an aesthetic sense in general.
