To Awake as Living Flame (8591 words) by Dorinda
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: 镇魂 | Guardian (TV)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Chǔ Shùzhī/Guō Chángchéng
Characters: Chǔ Shùzhī, Guō Chángchéng, Shěn Wēi, Zhào Yúnlán, Dà Qìng
Additional Tags: handwavy post-canon, Minor Shěn Wēi/Zhào Yúnlán, Self-Sacrifice, Rescue, Angst, Angst with a Happy Ending, Not Really Character Death, Getting Together
Summary:
I had been particularly intimidated about trying to write in Guardian, because of the extra challenges of the specificities of culture, name use, etc. But people have been so helpful in writing resource posts and giving advice! Not to mention my betas and cheerleaders, who worked with me from brainstorming on up. (Though of course all remaining errors are mine, don't blame them, they tried.)
In the end I was happy to get to exercise some of my Guo Changcheng feelings, enjoying an extrapolation from the late-series version with his own spine and power, though he still always remains soft and other-focused and glowingly compassionate. And of course my Chu Shuzhi feelings, which are LARGE and MANY and don't even always involve me falling over and weakly saying "...shoulders..." although sometimes they sure do. :D Plus my first efforts at Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan in the background, with their own tiny throughline about protectiveness and sacrifice and the pain involved in not being able to do either one as much as they would like. ♥
And, the revealed authors of my gift stories!:
"All In", The Sting (1973) Henry/Johnny, is by

"That's How the Light Gets In", The Exorcist (TV) Marcus/Tomas, is by

Summary:
Guo Changcheng stared at his phone, rubbing the back of his neck. Chu-ge was fine, surely. He'd been SID's only field agent since well before any such person as Guo Changcheng had ever been foisted upon him. He didn't need more worried little texts.
Okay, maybe one more. His thumbs flickered over the screen.
ur ok right
