A restful little share
Oct. 22nd, 2018 09:32 amOn the weekend, I popped over on Saturday to SHareCon, the Starsky & Hutch con held every two years. I have a lot of to-do's piled up and was kind of stressed out about them, so I was in two minds whether to go even for the one day. But it's only an hour away, so I went, and in the end I am so glad I did!
For one thing, I got to see
przed and
meri_oddities, and had some nice talk about fandoms and cons and writing with Zed in particular. For another thing, it's an excellent little con--just under 60 members I think?--with a lot of energy and participation and a warm and welcoming spirit. There was a really enjoyable panel about hurt/comfort, which I always love to talk about, and the vidshow was great. Especially one that used clips from episodes of (if I heard correctly) the shows "Kojak" and "The Streets of San Francisco" for shots of younger Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul, using eyeline-matches between reaction shots to show Starsky and Hutch meeting as younger men. Nicely done; I love a good constructed reality.
Anyway, it was a terrific Saturday, and I felt refreshed afterward, despite driving home quite late at night. \o/ A nice fannish shot in the arm, just in time for Yuletide assignments!
